VOTING RIGHTS NOW documents the Voting and Human Rights March organized by the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition.

On April 1st, 2006, seven month after Hurricane Katrina devasted the city of New Orleans and weeks before the elections for Mayor of New Orleans, thousands of New Orleans residents marched to protest the legitimacy of the upcoming elections. With more than half of the New Orleans population unable to return to the city, displaced voters lacked equal access and opportunity to participate in the elections.
