Although it is surprisingly charming and sweet, Kiarostami's debut feature could easily be viewed as a lesser version of some of his more famous films (Where is the Friend's House mainly). It's kind of slow, although when there is such an apparent drive towards something, in this case, getting to Tehran to watch the national soccer game, it is intriguing to see where our character ends up. But with that, seeing where he ends up is all this film really has to offer, as it ends in a slightly unfulfilling way. Perhaps that is just another way to share its message of morals in childhood and how doing wrong ultimately gets you nowhere, but I would have preferred to see the aftermath and consequences of his actions.
