Jithu Madhavan's debut film is a hysterical laugh riot which cackles you up.
Romancham is a hilarious , side splitting horror comedy which breaks genre boundaries in the most organic way by virtue of its fantastic and spontaneous situational humour. The film takes a good 20-25 mins for the hysteria to unleash, and when the humour kicks in it delivers entertainment in abundance. Jithu Madhavan's debut as a director is fabulous and commendable. The horror elements arent typical jump scares but the errie atmospheric tension along with the stunning facial expressions serve the purpose.
The film works because of the excellent score by Sushin Shyam which drives the entire film, smashing ensemble performances from the entire cast and smartly written story which toys with you and keeps you guessing. Soubin Shahir and Arjun Ashokan's distinctive performance light up the entire film as their presence itself makes the entire scene hilarious.
Overall if you appreciate great, innovative and rooted cultural flicks which reinvents horror-comedy for good , then donot miss this. It brings in the unfiltered madness which cheers you up and haunts you a little. Its said that the story is based on real events of 7 bachelors in 2007 makes it even more scary.
